Remco Evenepoel has shattered everything we thought we knew about the battle against the clock \u2014 the 26-year-old Belgian has pulled on the rainbow jersey for the fourth consecutive time. Pippo Ganna’s masterful silver, the dramatic crash of Sweden’s S\u00f6derqvist, and the first big-stage clash of two future stars \u2014 Seixas and del Toro.<\/i><\/p>\n

Cycling’s most brutal, most exposed and most uncompromising discipline has one fundamental rule: there are no team tactics here, no hiding in a rival’s wheel, no comfort of the draft. Once a rider rolls off the start ramp, they are left face to face with everything that will either break them or make them immortal: the merciless crosswinds along the St. Lawrence, Montreal’s narrow, technical corners, the lactate building in their legs, and the punishing cobbled climb to the finish in Old Montreal.<\/p>\n

It is just you, your lungs, your heart rate and the cold face of the stopwatch.<\/p>\n

That is exactly why, in Georgian, we gave it a name of its own: martorbola \u2014 the lone race!<\/b><\/p>\n

And when Remco Evenepoel stands on the start ramp, this lone race stops being mere sport and becomes an art form.<\/p>\n

Beyond the Shadow of Cancellara and Martin: Four in a Row!<\/h3>\n

Until now, cycling’s history books recognised two great giants of the time trial: Fabian Cancellara and Tony Martin. Each won four world titles over his career, yet neither \u2014 not even at the height of his dominance \u2014 managed what Remco has now done: four titles in a row, in four consecutive years!<\/b><\/p>\n

Glasgow 2023, Zurich 2024, Kigali 2025, and now Montreal 2026.<\/p>\n

At just 26, Evenepoel has not only equalled the historic record \u2014 he has set an absolute precedent. Over Montreal’s 39.2-kilometre course his pedalling was like a symphony of genius. While others fought the tarmac with brute force, Remco sliced through the air \u2014 44 minutes and 53 seconds (average speed: 52.4 km\/h)!<\/b> He beat his nearest pursuer by almost a full minute and proved once again that when he gets down on his bike, time plays by his rules. The rainbow jersey<\/b> stays with its rightful owner.<\/p>\n

Pippo’s Class, a Swedish Tragedy and Seixas’s Self-Belief<\/h3>\n

Behind Remco, a true gladiatorial battle for the podium broke out.<\/p>\n

Filippo Ganna<\/b> deserves a special mention. A two-time world champion, one of the most colossal figures of his era and an Italian giant with a brilliant career, he came to Montreal with his best tactics. “Pippo” did not rush the opening part of the course; he paced his effort with a jeweller’s precision and in the second half found such a rhythm that no one could take the well-deserved silver away from him at the finish. It was a cold-blooded masterclass from a great craftsman.<\/p>\n

The most dramatic episode of the podium fight belonged to Sweden’s Jakob S\u00f6derqvist<\/b>. The young Swede was riding phenomenally, flying towards a medal at the intermediate checks \u2014 but just a few kilometres from the finish he crashed heavily in a corner. Bloodied, S\u00f6derqvist fought to the very end, but that fateful fall cost him precious seconds and left him just 13 seconds off the podium.<\/p>\n

And this is where the French prodigy stepped in \u2014 Paul Seixas<\/b>! At only 19, Seixas showed such conviction, composure and maturity that he fully deserved his bronze medal at the elite World Championships.<\/p>\n

The Duel of Future GC Riders: Seixas vs. del Toro<\/h3>\n

This race carried one more crucial subplot \u2014 one that will become the central axis of world cycling in the years ahead: the rivalry between Paul Seixas and Isaac del Toro.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Mexican del Toro finished sixth, while Seixas claimed bronze. Both are the brightest hopes for the Grand Tours of the future. And in modern cycling, winning the general classification is simply impossible without mastering the time trial at the highest level.<\/p>\n

On Montreal’s tarmac, these two future giants threw down the gauntlet for the first time. We hope \u2014 and expect \u2014 that in the coming years their rivalry will move to the time-trial stages of the Grand Tours and give cycling fans unforgettable drama.<\/p>\n

History keeps being written, now in Montreal \u2014 the king of the time trial sits firmly on his glorious throne with a historic result, and the future is already knocking at the door.<\/p>\n
